William Peers
William Peers studied at Falmouth School of Art, and later worked in the marble quarries of Carrara, as well as spending long periods in Corsica. In the 1990s he moved to Cornwall, where he spent 15 years carving in Hornton stone. He later turned to Portuguese marble and his carving became more abstract. Recently, he has been exploring the relationships between positive and negative shapes.
You really begin to explore negative shapes when you make a hole through the stone. In removing most of the material the negative shapes counteract the positive, and the duet begins.
