emma elliott
The focal point of Emma’s work is the Earth’s ecosystems and endangered species. Recently she has been exploring the precarious link between humans and bees, as well as expanding her work on whales, elephants and sharks, subjects to which she has devoted attention in the past. These themes reflect Emma’s passion for the natural world and the distress that many of us feel at the decline of some of its most magnificent creatures.
Born in 1983, Emma studied at Charles Cecil, Florence, where she received a classical training in portraiture. Since moving back to the UK, Emma has developed her practice as a sculptor and is currently an associate member of The Royal Society of Sculptors. Emma returned to Italy in 2012 to learn about marble and has been carving stone ever since. For Emma, art should seek out a communal reaction, a feeling or a discussion. She delights in the physical and tactile element of working in stone and the transfer of energy into matter. Emma has won awards with The Sunny Art Prize 2019, Passion for Freedom 2015 and Winter Pride 2014; and her work is held in a number of prestigious public and private collections.
