Peter Randall-Page RA was born in 1954 and studied sculpture at Bath Academy of Art from 1973-1977. During the past 25 years, Peter’s sculpture, drawings and prints have gained him an international reputation. His work is held in public and private collections all over the world. Peter was a member of the design team for the Education Resource Centre at the Eden Project in Cornwall, influencing the design of the building by incorporating an enormous granite sculpture, Seed, at its heart.

Peter’s practice has always been informed and inspired by the study of natural phenomena and its subjective impact on our emotions. In recent years his work has become increasingly concerned with the underlying principles determining growth and the forms it produces.

The process of carving, moving a tool across the surface of a stone is akin to moving through a landscape. It’s like walking in that your body is kept busy in a rhythmic way, freeing the imagination in a fluid dialogue between thought and action. The title of this 3-part work, ‘Envelope of Pulsation’, refers to a definition of matter in tantric philosophy.
