szymon oltarzewski

My works are singular situations or thoughts captured and transformed in monuments of a moment. I am inspired by the contrast between the eternal aspect and organic origins of marble.Szymon Oltarzewski was born in 1977 in Lesko, Poland. From 1999 – 2002 he apprenticed with master sculptor Marek Spiewla focusing on wood, carbon and plaster. At the same time he frequented the studio of Witold Berus where he learned drawing from nature and the history of art. In 2003 he moved to Italy where he worked for Antonio Luchinelli and in 2009 he began his own series of marble sculptures and held his first solo exhibition. Since then he has exhibited his sculptures around the world. Szymon still lives and works in Pietrasanta where, since 2013, he has collaborated with Paola Raffo Arte Contemporanea. Szymon has been a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors since 2010.
